A BSAC working party headed by Dr Paul Chadwick has developed a draft business case model for implementation of an OPAT service.
The document examines how a centre can evaluate which the strengths and weaknesses of varying OPAT models and seeks to present these in a plan that could be presented to a trust. It also includes an example of a cost model that could be employed to show the cost savings of an OPAT service and also examines the key points of the development and execution of a robust business plan in the OPAT setting.

The future development of this is an online version which will be available to centres to download from this site. This will be an interactive tool than will enable centres to walk through a planning process online and for it to form the basis of the business plan for the initiation or development of an OPAT service.
